About Open Island
Open Island turns the notch, or the top of the screen on Macs without one, into a status panel for terminal coding agents. It lists active sessions, surfaces permission requests so you can approve or deny them in place, and jumps back to the terminal tab or IDE window where a session is running.
It hooks into more than a dozen agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and OpenCode, and recognises terminals and editors from Terminal and iTerm2 to Ghostty, tmux, VS Code and JetBrains IDEs. The project describes itself as local-first, with no server, account or telemetry, and as an open alternative to the commercial Vibe Island.
