About rem
rem takes a screenshot every couple of seconds, recognises the text in it, and keeps everything on your own Mac. A full-screen timeline lets you scroll back through what you were looking at, copy text from the past, search by keyword with an app filter, and grab recent context to paste into a language model.
Treat it as an experiment: the author labels it very alpha and is looking for contributors, and the most recent release is v0.1.14 from May 2024. GitHub releases include an Apple silicon build and a separate Intel build; the project notes it has mainly been tested on Apple silicon. Because it records the screen continuously, review where it stores data and use its purge option when needed.
