BetterShot

BetterShot covers capture from start to finish. It takes region, window, full-screen and scrolling screenshots, records a display, window or area with system audio, microphone and camera, and opens results in a floating preview for copying, saving, pinning or editing. The image editor handles arrows, shapes, text, numbered markers, blur and framing with backgrounds and shadows, while the video editor adds cuts, speed changes, zooms, captions and camera layouts.

Text recognition and a color picker are built in, and captures can be shared through a Cloudflare R2 bucket you control. It requires no account. The project lists macOS 14 or later, with some narration features needing newer releases, and publishes separate Apple silicon and Intel disk images on GitHub as well as an official Homebrew cask.
