About Yap
Yap waits in the menu bar for a global shortcut. While you speak, a small panel shows a waveform and a running transcript; pressing the shortcut again pastes the text into the app you were using. Past transcripts are kept locally so they can be copied again.
Transcription uses Apple's on-device speech framework, so no cloud service or key is involved. The project states that it requires macOS 26 on an Apple silicon Mac and does not support Intel machines.
