About Phosphene
Phosphene imports video files into a library and makes them available in the Wallpaper pane of System Settings, next to Apple's own animated wallpapers. Playback continues on the desktop and lock screen after the app is closed, and it can pause or lower quality when the desktop is covered or the Mac is hot or on battery.
It requires macOS 26 or later and relies on private wallpaper APIs, so a macOS update could break it until the app is updated. Builds are on GitHub releases and via a Homebrew cask.
